Around here, in the great city of Seattle, we have snow as I write this.
Seattle doesn’t get snow very often. So I’m excited that we got some. More is predicted to come on Wednesday. So enjoy the snow on my blog. If you’re on an iPhone or iPod touch, the snow is disabled due to performance issues. I will enable it on a dedicated snow page.
Lighttpd is known for how lightweight it is and its ability to handle thousands of requests per second, and Lighttpd powers sites like The Pirate Bay, YouTube, Imageshack, Webkinz, and a host of others. So I thought I would give lighttpd a spin.

It’s getting closer to Christmas. The family, the presents, etc. Then of course because my sister dances, there’s the Nutcracker.

Also, the I’m at my grandma’s house with the family. My cousin’s grandpa says hi. 🙂
I had Fedora 9 on this Acer laptop. I was pissed off about various things like the restriction of gstreamer plugins I could install. Also, there wasn’t a way that I could find to get static DNS servers. So last night I installed Ubuntu 8.10 over Fedora 9.
I’ve had no problems so far. Installing wireless was one click. Same for flash.
So I’m going to continue setting that machine up.

I am writing this from my iPod because I can’t get to my blog behind my Belkin router. That stupid router!!!!!! I hate that router!! More later.
UPDATE: The Belkin router is gone!
I don’t use RSS like I should. Why? Standard techniques don’t work for me. Firstly, my screensaver only will activate on my command. Secondly, Mail refused to subscribe to either the Slashdot feed or my blog’s. Third, Firefox & Safari don’t have a big enough of an indicator for new entries. So now with Google Reader, which is on Springboard on my iPod, I hope to read RSS feeds more often.
I decided to try Opera 9.6. I’ve used Opera before, quite a few times, and it always was just okay, but no worse than IE.
But now Opera 9.6 has made it better. Opera 9.6 is clearly faster. I will post more about Opera 9.6 later.
Apparently, I can use TextMate for blogging. It works out pretty good, although for you weaklings who need WYSIWYG, not so good. But since I have a good enough understanding of HTML, I can use it. in fact, TextMate is what I’m using to write this very blog post. and possibly others.
In other news, OKSW is now closed up so you don’t see the horrendous PHP error that was there. So, read my page explaining the problem.
