National Day of Silence speaks out in the wrong way, ineffective

Today, at my school, and thousands of other schools around the nation, students participated in a Day of Silence. It is a silent protest to bring to light “anti-LGBT name-calling, bullying and harassment in their schools.”However, silence is an ineffective tool against discrimination. Should I use Google Reader to subscribe to RSS feeds?

I don’t use RSS like I should. Why? Standard techniques don’t work for me. Firstly, my screensaver only will activate on my command. Secondly, Mail refused to subscribe to either the Slashdot feed or my blog’s. Third, Firefox & Safari don’t have a big enough of an indicator for new entries. So now with Google Reader, which is on Springboard on my iPod, I hope to read RSS feeds more often.

TextMate as a Blogging tool

Apparently, I can use TextMate for blogging. It works out pretty good, although for you weaklings who need WYSIWYG, not so good. But since I have a good enough understanding of HTML, I can use it. in fact, TextMate is what I’m using to write this very blog post. and possibly others.

In other news, OKSW is now closed up so you don’t see the horrendous PHP error that was there. So, read my page explaining the problem.

This about wraps up this post.

Microsoft cracks, says everything is cooler than Winblows

My friend JonathanS pointed this out to me.

Photosynth, Microsoft’s new project which allows you to map out 3D space simply by putting together pictures.

When I went to the website (www.photosynth.net), I clicked one of the “synths”. I got this message:

Unfortunately, we’re not cool enough to run on your OS yet. We really wish we had a version of Photosynth that worked cross platform, but for now it only runs on Windows.

I was running Firefox 3.1a2pre (i built it from hg!) on Mac OS X Leopard.

I also spoofed as Firefox 3.0 on Linux and it says the exact same thing.

Reading the Apple Public Source License

I was going through the Apple Public Source License as I was cleaning it and spacing it to fit more appropriately. Here are some snippets:

You acknowledge that the Covered Code is not intended for use in the operation of nuclear facilities, aircraft navigation, communication systems, or air traffic control machines in which case the failure of the Covered Code could lead to death, personal injury, or severe physical or environmental damage.

Kind of strange.

Any litigation or other dispute resolution between You and Apple relating to this License shall take place in the Northern District of California.

Home field advantage!

New forums, buggy WordPress, fixed Trac, and a whole lot more!

I installed some new forums which are powered by forum software called bbPress. They are integrated with the blog meaning that if you login here, you’re logged in there. Also, you can login there with your login for our blog.

On a lower note, our WordPress has a problem. Look at the bottom of this page. There’s a nasty PHP warning. I am upset with it too. I’ll just keep on doing svn up until it fixes itself.

On a higher note, our Trac is fixed. It also moved to /trac instead of /cgi-bin/trac. It also is running 0.12dev.

UPDATE: WordPress was fixed. Wasn’t that fast?
